DAY #9 08.26.2005

LET'S GO RACIN BOYS!

Arrived at Bristol Motor Speedway and were lucky to find parking at Bubba Bob's Luxury Suites & Spa.

Flashbacks to Utah but at least the tall grass is green.  Just made it a tad harder to find the car when we came back in the dark about 13 hrs later.....

Short walk from spa to speedway.

Not so short that we didn't have time to shop.  What wife wouldn't want to have this on her new sleep number bed?  And the price was not that bad......

Up the ramp past relief row.

More on this later...

Upon entrance Bruton Smith, the common man, greeted us with his humble four story tall likeness.

Find the NASCAR bubba in the picture.

You want me to do what?

You're not from around here are you?

Good taste in men and beer?  Who would of thought she would be a Dead Guy Ale fan.

Nothing like messin with the competition.... She was exited that I checked the box next to call me about life insurance...  Of course the person whose number I wrote in might not be happy.

Before I get too far behind, don't forget that we're going to do some brainstorming at Homecoming concerning the Ten Years of Curves event.  Let's try to get to the bottom of the Las Vegas birthday party.

Meanwhile back at the day at the races.....

I don't know what she is sellin, but I know what Tahoe is buyin.

The Navy car really faded at the end.  Perhaps a better steering system?

Dining on the terrace....  Nothing says fine dining like race track food!              Insert caption here.

Since we were already there we decided to check out the race.

Not having the Magellan Roadmate 700 with us we had to rely on Tom and finger pointing for direction.

Tom's guy, Kasey Kahne, makes his qualifying lap.

Blaine's guy is on the top of the pole!

Didn't last... damn you Kenseth!

Beforethe race,  Bill Frist tells us like it is...  It's times like this that really makes us miss ZeattleDave.

The OWCRTC and 70,000 of our closest friends.

And then it was on to Jet Dryer racing!  Everywhere we go the rain seems to follow...

We apoligiZe in advance for the weather at Homecoming.

I left California for this?

Back to racing....

The Jet Dryer was the only thing Tom's driver seemed to be able to pass in the end.

DAY #10 08.27.2005
Had a little friend outside our window to help welcome in a new adventure.

Took a quick side trip to see Fess Parkers birthplace.
Nice to see that he had wheelchair access.... Guess the ADA is older than we thought.
Same grass different day.
A little pre-race shopping.... They ain't no Las Vegas shorts...
Y'all
And for the serious shopper*.......

*Tom's inapproriate proposed narative has been vetoed... Something about women and shopping...

Same rhetoric different shirt.
Nine time Bristol winner Rusty Wallace says goodbye.
On to The Star Spangled Banner and the more than cool fly over.
These are our next door neighbors Sam and his son. Some really nice folks.
The link to a their historic home is below... Just in case someone here feels romantic.
Parade laps!!!!!
3litre's man starts out deeeep in the field.
Did manage to make it back to respectability with the help of three free passes.....
Hey hey looky here my man is in the lead... But not for long darn it... :-(
Then is was time to leave... At the same time as 170,000 other people.....
We made it back faster than we guessed... Home by 2:30AM
Saw this on the way back....
"Hey Crowder, I need me a belt and a couple of bags for my Miele Red Velvet S558 HEPA Canister Vacuum and could you toss in a box of Super Vel .357 AMP ammo?"

DAY #11 08.28.2005

And then there was one..... Tahoe takes family over friend and heads to Kentucky...

Time to POTAB....

Maybe Tom should have thought twice about leaving me alone... Hit the Chuckey flea market and picked up some okra and extra hot chow chow. The chickens looked pretty good but I didn't think they would make it back to Orygun in the trunk. Also picked up a nice gift for?????

I met Buck Legg at a car wash in Jonesborough, the oldest town in TN. We talked for over an hour about washing cars, building radiators, business practices and Jesus.

North Carolina and the Smokies greeted me and another Z'r.... Board members ride?

Now that my co-pilot abandoned me, photo's are just a bit harder to obtain.... I did my best RoadsterGal with this one.... That's Phil in the foreground, who took the place of Tahoe Tom as navigator. I was thinking maybe I should go get in line for the pano photo so I can beat out those Jerseyites....

Nuttin better to do, so I spent some time at a red light*......

*Inserted for Tom's enjoyment

Time to check in a get some needed rest......

Tomorrow Charlotte.....
