DAY NUMBER 9

08.26.2007

Come on now Blaine......5:30 AM is not so early!

It is already 2:30 AM on the West Coast!

Blaine's view of the take off time.

It took until the Cumberland Gap tunnel for him to come back to life.

Waking up in the middle of a tunnel was a bit disconcerting for a grumpy old man.

He even missed Boone's Tavern

We joined the red car parade out of Bristol.  Is that an ///M????

It was as if we were looking into a mirror.

Flea Land stop but this should have been an 80 MPH picture.

One of the local artisans sold Blaine a hand carved Q fashioned from indigenous hardwood.

From the smile we can't tell who got the better of the deal.

A future Vana White?

This haunting image seems to be everywhere we go...

Deja vue all over again?

And how in the hell can Mike sell tiles @ 59 cents and still make money?

DAY NUMBER 10

08.27.2007

After awaking at our Louisville Headquarters (aka Tom's daughter Betsy's home), we were greated by a 5 C*.

* couple of cute cat couch cushions

Historic Churchill Downs was the first stop on our guided (by Betsy) tour of Louisville.

Blaine said there would be some jealousy if he went without Leslie,

but we forced him to go with a promise she is welcome at any time.

Phantom, Great Grandson of Secretariat.

He looks a lot like Blaine's birthday present.  Same color, tail and four legs more or less.

Well I made the weight limit....How about you Blaine.?

But only if the Derby rules allowed the use of just one leg.

He is out of the gate and headed for the first turn.

Tom  finally found some competition he may be able to beat.  But don't count on it.

He still didn't get a (*^# Penzoil hat!

Tom, why am I standing here?

After passing school Blaine was rewarded with a mint julip from his new best girl Linda.

We partook in one of the local favorites at the Downs Cafe....... Hot Browns.

It was actually quite tasty.

This was what was left of Blaine's Derby Pie after he was called away on the phone.

So nice of him to share.

We did the tour of Betsy and John's Church in downtown Louisville.

Tahoe Tommy belts out a few tunes on the circa 1911 pipe organ.

Always quizical, Tom wonders where are the fish in the tank?

Next stop on the tour is the Louisville Slugger Museum.

The bat is six stories tall!

On display, was one of three known surviving Babe Ruth bats,

with the notches he personally cut for each home run.

Tom with the tour director/driver/guide and a great cook to boot.

Whilst Tom picks up his Z4 after being serviced at Swope BMW of Louisville Betsy does some pre-birthday shopping.

A loving Dad and or Husband would take a hint.

I mean cum-on!  It's just a little ole M coupe.
