DAY NUMBER 15

09.01.2007

It's 4:00 AM Saturday and the faithful gather for the pilgrimage to the plant for the panoramic picture.

Arnie and Ken are ready. Where is BD?

John and Jack arrive.  Still no BD!

The line at the plant.......29th in line.

The early bird doesn't get "biggins" this year.  They didn't make any!!

Naw, the Winngate won't miss this pillow.

The last time I saw BD he was in his scrubs......called to surgery I guess.

When the sun finally rose, the faithful rose right along with it.

They had a pep in their step and a twinkle in their eyes.

The job begins for placing almost 600 cars on the lawn.

Early pays off......front row for Arnie, Ken, Tom and John (JP)*.

BD must still be at the operating table.

* Juan Pablo

Not another roadster picture!

BMW's Kenn Sparks kicked off the program in the body shop of the plant.

About 1200 people were fed and entertained here this evening.

The referees made sure that the game was fair and square.

And with a motley crew like this, believe us it was needed.

The Greer High School cheer leaders whipped up the enthusiasm of the crowd

The State Champion, Greer High School Percussion Marching Band was the highlight of the evening.

What show isn't complete without a juggler?

He was very good!

A clown outfit, chainsaws and bowling balls may have added to it.

The coveted auction item was the handmade gold bracelet of  Z Roadsters by Carter Lee.

This received  a winning bid of $8000 which went to The Make a Wish Foundation

DAY NUMBER 16

09.02.2007

Yes Blaine, I do think there is room right here for your bourbon balls?

Hmmm...  I wonder how that BMW bucket and sign got in there?

It was a bittersweet time as the Wingate faded from the side view mirror.

All the more as Tom once again declares, as in all past years, this to be his last trip out......

JP shows us the, (one handed finger tapping stuck behind slow motorcycles) driving technique*.

* Closed course, professional driver, DO NOT ATTEMPT!

Well, what trip is complete without a knee and door handle picture?

Tom's knee at 80 MPH, check that one off........

Heading down the road to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Cherokee National Park.

My these are interesting plants here.

It is important to become familiar with the local flora and fauna.

We don't think Daniel Boone slept here.  But anything is possible!

Lunch at Tilouqoua (sp?) along the river.

We ordered BD a catfish sandwich and grits, but he may still be in surgery.

The view at lunch. Kudzoo creeping in from the right.

Welcome back BD. Hope the surgery was successful.

Great scenery leaving Bardstown KY, heading for Louisville.

On a side note, Sunday was the best day of top down driving we have had on our entire journey.

The weather could not have been more gorgeous.

We ended the day in Louisville at Betsy and John's.
